Based on it's reputation I wouldn't have expected PSU to have such amazing faculty and opportunities. I have been blown away by how many accomplished and supportive mentors I have found here. Opportunities for research are around if you look for them and bulletin boards are always full of cool clubs and activities. So happy I came here!
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Jun 7th, 2024This school has really gone downhill. With the numerous safety risks going to campus is not worth your time or money
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Jun 5th, 2024PSU is the kind of school where you reap what you sow. You give energy to make friends, and join clubs, you will. You ask for resources and seek them out, then they're there. The parking costs are outrageous, and parts of the paths need to be redone for accessibility. As a transfer student, I've felt supported. Take what you give.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities May 21st, 2024If you like to see transients SLEEPING in and around your campus as well as having your library destroyed all the while the president is not doing a damn thing about it, then sure, this campus is right for you.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities May 16th, 2024I transferred from PCC and I really enjoyed attending the business school for my bachelor. Lots of opportunities for networking and creating relationships. Because business and my focus on Marketing and adman is so collaborative I've fostered some amazing relationships with students and faculty alike.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Apr 29th, 2024PSU is great for students living nearby and looking for a four-year school that will not break the bank. There is plenty to do in the city and surrounding areas. It is possible to build connections and plenty of opportunities. Safety is an issue, fair amount of criminal activity in downtown.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Apr 21st, 2024PSU is a commuter school with a lot of older, "non-traditional" students. It's a good school for getting a degree, but if you want a "college experience" with fun and friends you're out of luck. Zero social opportunities outside of clubs, but that isn't the best either. Professors are chill and food carts nearby are great. You get what you pay for.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Apr 18th, 2024Remote opportunities, especially for the Honors program, are lacking. Have had a few bad professors, but most I've seen tend to be okay at worst. I've never felt unsafe on campus, but I absolutely have walking to some of the more remote buildings (like RSLB). Social opportunities for commuters are limited, but joining a club or association helps.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Apr 6th, 2024Gets the job done, but I have had hiring superiors questions the validity of Portland State. Being down town is horrible. Downtown dangers. Careful you may get hit with a poop knife homeless person. Food carts are great. Some professors are capable others will grade you harder for differing political ideologies. looking at you gen ed. electives.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Mar 25th, 2024Portland State University is a great place to get an education! There's so many events and clubs to get involved in, and it's easy to make friends. The Portland StreetCar is free for all PSU students, so it makes exploring the city really easy. Majority of the dorms have private bathrooms. There's good places to eat everywhere on & around campus.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Mar 20th, 2024Excellent school for serious people. If you're looking for the college experience you'll be underwhelmed, but if you want to learn from and work with great minds with every imaginable resource at your disposal there's no better place.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Mar 15th, 2024 It is after all one of the most affordable universities in the state Reputation Opportunities Facilities Mar 11th, 2024School is pretty good! Although it is a very laid-back place, so there is not much to participate in (such as Greek life, etc). I like how it is in the city, which allows you to really explore and get a good sense of Portland living.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Feb 29th, 2024 Good school Reputation Opportunities Facilities Feb 14th, 2024PSU is a great school but has its share of problems as it is located in Downtown Portland. Most of the safety concerns come from nonstudents and Oregon laws. There are many opportunities to get involved on campus. There are many different student clubs and resource centers for students
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Jan 7th, 2024I really feel heard by the professors and students. It's been really nice because I formerly worked in downtown, so the transition to school is great.
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Dec 7th, 2023It can be a good school for the right person, the food is not good for students who have food restrictions, and the safety is pretty bad,
Reputation Opportunities Facilities Dec 5th, 2023Overall, this university is okay and has the potential to be so much more. There are some others that are close enough that it feels like they should step it up a little, but instead prices keep going up and classes keep becoming more limited. Very difficult for liberal arts students who work to find enough classes either online or in the evenings.
