It depends on the zoning of the property, and you need to check with your city or county building/zoning department first. Most residential lots are zoned for only one residence and do not allow mobile homes. So your property zoning must allow both two residences and mobile homes.
Sometimes a variance can be obtained. Also, one rural Florida county we know of has a “mother-in-law” exception to their zoning code that allows a homeowner to put a mobile home on their property to accommodate an elderly family member. It is a temporary exemption and the mobile must be removed upon their death.
