DSSW CAREER FAIR 2024

Welcome to the Delta Family!

Delta Secondary School Windhoek (DSSW), previously known as Deutsche Oberschule Windhoek, is a government school in Windhoek, Namibia. Our school, along with our sister school, Delta School Windhoek (DSW) and the Delta Kindergarten are administered through the Delta Verein Windhoek (DVW). DSSW also works in collaboration with the Association of German School Societies in Namibia (AGDS). Moreover, in 2007 DSSW introduced the opening of Projekt Lilie under the motto "Die Zukunft Beginnt im Klassenzimmer" (the future begins in the classroom). Projekt Lilie is an initiative to support and promote education in Namibia, with special reference to the maintenance and advancement of the German language and culture. Since 2009, DSSW is also a member of the PASCH network, which stands for "Schulen Partner der Zukunft" (school partners of the future) whose aim is to build a global network encouraging young people to learn German.

We pride ourselves in our high academic performances, especially in subjects like mathematics an d sciences where students were honored with numerous awards, since our conception. We regularly reach top-ten positions within the Khomas region as well as country-wide in the National Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) examinations on both, Higher and Ordinary levels. These achievements led to the the Ministry of Education Arts and Culture selecting our school as one of few schools in the region to offer AS levels in the new curriculum.

If you are a motivated and engaged parent, with a diligent and driven child, you will feel right at home at our school. In grade 8 your child will learn German as their additional language, but those who haven't had German before will learn it on foundations level in German as a foreign language. If your child however wants to join our school only later in their high-school career, they must at least have a basic knowledge in German, since we currently do not offer any other languages aside from German and English. Applications open during third term (June/July) each year, and since limited applications are available, we urge parents to contact us for specific dates and to show up early to avoid disappointment. Each year we receive over a thousand applications and can only accommodate 170 grade 8 learners.
